Here, The Last of Us takes us to Jakarta for the origin of the outbreak—or, at least, as far back as this world's authorities might be able to trace. While these characters' deaths could be viewed as karmic retribution, it's made less satisfying by the fact that they were killed off by third parties, rather than their victims. The second episode capably delivers fantastic action, high drama, and emotional heft. Thanks to the clever use of a fire hose, the kids holding out in the science lab are able to descend to the second floor, where Ms. Park is (the bit where she admonishes the students for their dangerous climb got a chuckle out of me. ) Gwi-Nam stabs her with the spoon. It's striking that the show spends such a short amount of time in the flooded wreckage of the luxury hotel, and a sign of how much bigger budgets can be at HBO versus AMC. By then, though, it's too late. Now, it'll be interesting to see if she turns into another of these super-powered zombies, like Nam-Ra or just like the infected. She knows how to survive and she's not meek or timid, but also not too brash. I am, however, a major fan of horror, sci-fi, and the post-apocalyptic genre, and have largely managed to shield myself from the major plot points. Something I really liked, though, was the show's lack of hesitation to kill its characters off. He hides under the table. Cheong-San hits Jin-Gu's head.
