The other thing that didn't quite work for me was the inconsistency of the narrative voice. Later when we find out Shane has a sister, my first initial thought was that she was the "killer. I also thought there were a number of holes in the story in places - both in regard to after Shane's murder and the end of the story; police can look at forensics, and while I am absolutely no expert in such things, I'm pretty sure a murder mystery party wouldn't have actually been needed to figure out who killed Shane, and also, the story wouldn't end where the book ended, because, due to certain things I can't talk about, I'm pretty sure the police could work out what had happened. I really don't know what to say about this.

I did figure out two parts of it quite early on but nonetheless, the other couple of plot twists were quite surprising. Juniper… was kinda okay, she's the concerned, nice friend that drifted apart with her best friend. It took too damn long for him to die but God damn was I happy he did. So what is the truth? That being said, I just can't say no to a cheesy, teenybopper revenge thriller. I was absolutely sure – and only became more certain – that I was fine with something happening to Parker as he was just such an abusive arsehole. Four pretty red heads turning. A special mention should go to Gavin, who was there for exactly zero (0) reason. The party started at ten. But tonight, the five survivors arrive at an isolated mansion in the hills, expecting to compete in a contest with a $50, 000 grand prize. You learn something about a character — some question they have, some mystery that bugs them — find out the answer, and THEN learn the twist and the REAL answer, all within the same chapter. This lie will kill you free. Maybe i'll pick this up either physically or virtually in the future, but i wasn't that captivated by the story anyway so i doubt it. The house they were all trapped in was grear.
Ruby and Parker are difficult characters, each so self centered. Slasher Girls & Monster Boys. Who it's by: YA author Chelsea Pitcher. After all the time passed, the five other teenagers who survived and played a part that night, thought their individual secrets safe, until an invitation arrives that's not exactly for a party. The author exclusively wrote in metaphors, to such an extent that not a single statement was straight forward and listening to the story was like wading through drying cement. But Ruby liked being in the one place in the entire house where nobody would follow her, tug on her sleeve, or fill up the silence. He was almost a rapist, was obsessive and violent, jealous. She has a life off the course. The characters are brought in under the premise of winning a college scholarship and each one has need for that money for their future, but our host wants answers and everyone has a secret that could unravel their entire world. My feelings towards this book are mixed. Mara Dyer believes life can't get any stranger than waking up in a hospital with no memory of how she got there. It just felt…dragged out and boring?? When they'd first discussed it, Mrs. Valentine had gone completely white.
I find that they are usually very well-written, with pacy plots, shocking twists and often quite poignant themes and messages. Narrated by: Kim Churchill. The case was never solved. As they arrive at the Cherry Street Mansion and take their seats around a table, it is obvious that the Ringmaster has more in store for them than a simple game. The language was sometimes too lyrical and flowery for the genre and it can sometimes be a little... cringe-y. And the fact it took a whole book to figure it out makes me mad, cause it was so unnecessary. While predictable, it is still engaging and I think readers who enjoy teen readers and thriller reads will find this one a winner. Far more important are the Ivies.
The writing is not great; when I first saw this book, I was surprised I hadn't heard more about it, but after reading it, I understood why. So when they each receive a letter inviting them to work at her island resort for the summer, they're curious. I Killed Zoe Spanos. While the plot might have been lacking on some of the finer details, the beautiful qualities of the writing really won me over.
