I was fascinated by the relationship between Madeline Astor and Margaret Brown (aka Unsinkable Molly Brown), and her intense dislike of Bruce Ismay (even before the Titanic sank, and he "miraculously" survived when very few others closely associated with the ship or crew did), and her difficult relationship with JJ's son, Vincent. This book is inspiring, raw, honest, tender, touching, crushing, and a million other adjectives. I also loved the descriptions of the interior of the Titanic and what it was like (pre crash). The beginning of the story is very strong with getting to know the characters and their courtship. The sense of time running out is felt from the beginning. A Note to Readers from Shana Abé. First of all the foreshadowing was way too heavy to the point that it came off as incredibly fake (such as the time that Jack rescues passengers from another ship and Madeline asks about how cold the water is or a fortune teller saying that bad things will happen on a ship).
