Passenger side CV axle won't go in. The snap ring is a simple bent spring steel you are correct in assuming you can bend it just right to make it work the problem is doing without reference. I'm in the middle of the woods on a cell phone booster to get minimal internet. Let go of the ebrake so you can rotate the axle.

Cv Axle Not Fully Seated

From my experience, if ring won't go in with three taps of a 3# hammer I take off the snap ring and test the fit without, then I'll swap the used ring on (because it's a known entity). If the lock ring is too loose, too large in diameter, it won't function properly and will not shrink down and then pop back out locking the cv axle in, instead it will prevent installation. Problem with this is that since only the very end of the axle spline is engaged in the tranny, the spines may develop a slight twist because of the force of acceleration. When you tried to put the trans in "P" and you heard the grinding, that was the output shafts of the trans still turning because there was nothing stopping it meaning that the cv joint/s have come off the splines of the output shaft/s. Now when I try to put the axle back into the transmission, I can get it almost all the way in but there is about an 1/8" gap between the axle and the transmission.

I thought it was an issue with it lining up inside the trans but when you turn the rotor the passenger side wheel turns as well. Then you can pull the axle all the way out and then swing the upright in to reinstall the axle. Passenger side went it without any problems and is ready to go. Luckily my commute to work is about 1 mile. Honestly it was too easy. From underneath I held the inner CV joint in while pushing the hub out, then letting it swing back in bottiming the CV joints to make a light tap. I have just finished putting in a new left side axle seal. I've removed everything including the strut to get a clean clear straight shot to "float" it in. Anyone else have this issue and found a solution? Grasp the inner joint and see if it can be moved back and forth. Last post by khnitz. It goes it so far and no matter how much I turn and twist it for the gear threads to line up it added photos of axle install points. As far as I can tell (without tearing the whole thing down again) both joints are in there pretty well. Chapter/Region: VIC. I imagine I need to turn one of the axles to get the transmission shaft matchup To go into place. The snap ring gives resistance and has to be compressed to go in so some effort has to be used.

I did clean the splines of the axle, but perhaps I should have check for damage.
