Once that cam is out, you can leave the key in the ignition and when you open the door you won't get the annoying ding. And for some reason i am able pull out my key. Basiclly everything is reversed in that I mean when you car is off and the sholder belt is attached, the chime goes off, when the car is running and the sholder belt is attached and the drivers door is opened the chime does not go off? Keeps the chime from going off when I open the door. Basically, there are a couple things to test but I suspect the ignition switch is your issue. You can unplug the door open signal wires from the gong and retain the OBC gong sounds. Just make sure you have a spare key or know how to pick the lock lol. I had replaced the ignition switch, used but "tested good", just prior to replacing the interloc. Keyless ignition and the chime kept going while driver's door was open and instrument panel said to turn off the motor. Billy, could you be something I'd want to do also. I've read the threads about disabling the ignition chime but it seems it takes out the chime for everything. Yes it stays off almost all the time, but a simple push button and the gong is active again. It seems that when my car was in for it's service, the garage set the dial for my lights to be on. A hot wire to the radio would be just the ticket.
