I will admit that it took me a while to get acquainted with the story because it was difficult for me to grasp the magical elements in a romance novel, but once you're adjusted, you're swept into a complex story that also explores family relationships, xenophobia, and much more. There was this mystery surrounding her aunt and what would happen with her gift and it keeps you interested in finding out something other than if they get their happily ever after. I loved that it included romance but the main characters romance wasn't the entirety of the book. Marc and Vanessa's relationship is cute and charming when they are together but there was a darker component that developed around the midpoint of the book which gave me some concerns. Turns out the first customer she's had in months is a hot prospect in more ways than one.
