As a member of this church, you have a responsibility to build up others in this church. I am because, through me, Christ builds up His Body, the Church. The apostles, prophets, evangelists, and shepherds and teachers, all are joined in coordination; they build upon what others have done and develop it. When the people do not serve, the congregation's growth stagnates. I came to the conclusion that I did not have the spiritual gift of a missionary. In its immediate context the grieving of the Holy Spirit in verse 30 is particularly related to our speaking. It is the means of grace we all need to continue on in Christ, to walk together in a manner worthy of the gospel! To grow in life is to grow into the Head, Christ; to operate in the Body is to operate out from Him. As we hold to truth in love, we grow up into Him in all things; then, out from Him, we operate for the building up of the Body. The Body of Christ is joined closely together through every joint of the rich supply, and it is built up through the operation of each one part. The idea here is that these gifts are given, verse 13, until "we all reach unity in the faith and in the knowledge of the Son of God, and to become mature, " this is the NIV, "attaining to the whole measure of the fullness of Christ. "

Lord Jesus, we want to hold to truth in love so that we may grow up into Christ in all things. And on the Lord's Day, we can prophesy in the district meetings of the church for us to build up the church directly. So, let me give you some examples. The direct building up of the Body will never be done by the gifted members but by the perfected saints who function in their measure. We need to be equipped with the truth by prayerfully studying the truth and speaking it, and we need to be perfected to preach the gospel every week, visit the new ones in their homes to cherish and nourish them, and practice being perfected to function in the meetings of the church. You are called to worship - "It is good to praise the LORD and make music to your name, O Most High, to proclaim your love in the morning and your faithfulness at night" (Psalm 92:1-2). But Paul is particularly concerned with seeing the church grow, being built up into maturity. Notice what all four of these have in common: teaching. I'm pleading with you. Thank you for this church. Bitterness, anger, wrath, clamor, evil speaking, and malice all damage the building up of the Body and stem from a lack of tenderheartedness and forgiveness. Some people, let me tell you, they flourish at Christian giving.

We are in charge of making sure that the body of Christ intakes and digests the pure Word of God.

So people with gifts of service. Amen, may Christ increase in us in all things until we attain to a full-grown man! Satan has worked in many ways throughout the ages to destroy the church, and one of the things he succeeded in doing is to annul the function of the members of the Body. Don't you yearn for that? Whatever the case, Paul borrows and adapts the language and themes of Psalm 68 and applies them to Christ's incarnation and ascension. In Psalm 68:18, the divine victor is described as "receiving gifts among men. " As Augustine said, we'll be 21 for eternity. Our urgent need as believers in Christ and as members of the Body is to be perfected in our function; we need to be perfected by the gifted members in the meetings of the church so that we, the many members, the one-talented saints, would function. Isn't that beautiful? And in the church God has appointed first of all apostles, second prophets, third teachers, then workers of miracles, also those having gifts of healing, those able to help others, those with gifts of administration, and those speaking in different kinds of tongues. " Brothers such as Paul, Peter, Martin Luther, John Nelson Darby, Watchman Nee, and Witness Lee, were produced by the Head not to do the direct work of the building of the Body but for the perfecting of the saints.

The denominations are built up as a congregation by a few pastors and preachers. If we do remember the offense, we will not be happy to see him or sit by him when we come to the meetings.
