I can say about the book that I had an idea of the possible story from the beginning, but was surprised again towards the middle of the book. There are traits of both characters that I can recognise in myself when I was their age and it's both embarrassing and amusing in equal measures. What a fool to be so blind. Whilst there are lots of sensitive subjects, the author deals with it in a manner that doesn't put you off ultimately what the story is about. There's no perfect love story in real life, so I appreciated how honest and real this story was. While I found some of the miscommunications frustrating, I still understood why Rixon chose to write this how she did.

It was an intense relationship. However, I still really wanted to see what happened to these characters. Multiple timelines flip between their time at university, post university and twenty years later, after a suicide bomber attacks a football arena. The story jumped back and forth between present day and the past which made the plot choppy at times. Whilst this is marketed as a romance, I'm not sure it is that - it's more about two people who feel that draw together even over 20 years. Such a great story and i devoured this is no time. Having a soft corner for History, I loved the timeline under every chapter, a gentle nudge to the reader to keep track of past and present events. This story follows the love story of Clara and Benjamin who after many tragedies find each other again. Poignant and moving, I defy anyone who has experienced the heartbreak of first love not to cry when they read it. If you want to change the language, click. The story was relatable and I think it's important to talk about heavy topics. Two decades later, Clara is at work when she hears of a bombing at a football game in the town where they fell in love.

What did happen is revealed slowly throughout the book, but for fear of spoilers I won't say any more about these! Twenty years later, after a bombing, Clara sees him on TV and goes looking for him, changing both of their lives. It was emotional and intense, it moved me.
